Your great idea won’t happen unless you decide to do it. Sure there’s risk. The odds are even staggering but with entrepreneurship, you can identify the risk and known risk can be managed. Life happens no matter how safe you play it. Go create value!
Mr. Gretzky’s other great quote speaks to ideas, “..skate to where the puck is going,” and this one speaks to taking action. Wonder if the guy ever started a company.
No idea, no technology, no dream will ever change the world unless someone takes a shot on getting it out there. The public ultimately decides but not until they get the chance.
A friend tells the story of his decision to start a company. As most people do when they have a major decision to make, he consulted a trusted advisor. In this case it was his wife. They listed all the reasons for and against and they discussed all the risks. At the end they came to the realization that if it all blew up, they could always do something else. They were not going to starve.
Risk, especially entrepreneurial risk, is relative.
